GLP-1 Receptor Agonists like Semaglutide work by acting on receptors in the brain that control your appetite, causing you to feel fuller much easier. This may help you eat less food and decrease your body weight.

Weight loss commonly starts within 2 weeks and continues for 9 to 12 months on treatment.

The actions of skinny pen medication are best thought of as a "chemical gastric band", albeit without surgery and readily reversible by just stopping the injections. Technically, yes—but whether you should continue these medications long-term depends on several key factors:

• Medical need: For individuals with obesity or related conditions (such as Type 2 diabetes), longer use may be needed to sustain weight loss and manage underlying health concerns. Since weight regain after stopping treatment is common, ongoing therapy is sometimes recommended.

• Tolerability & side effects: Many people can take these medications safely over time, but it requires regular medical oversight.

• Health goals and BMI: Whether you should continue depends on your personal weight management goals, BMI, and overall health status. If you’ve reached and can maintain a healthy weight through lifestyle changes, we may reassess the need for medication.

• Cost: These treatments can be costly, and affordability may limit long-term use for some.

There are no official restrictions on how long these medications can be prescribed and treatment should always be tailored.
