Saxend-a works by acting on receptors in the brain that control your appetite, causing you to seem fuller and not so much hungry. This may help you eat less food and decrease your body weight. Weight loss commonly starts within 2 weeks and continues for 9 to 12 months on Saxend-a treatment.

We advise exactly how, when and how much Saxend-a to take, and you should follow their directions as closely as possible. As a rough guide, you’ll usually start by taking a lower dose of the medication, then gradually build up to the max over the first five weeks of your course. Generally, you’ll start by taking 0.6mg once a day for a week, then increase by 0.6mg each week until you’re taking the maximum dosage of 3.0mg a day. The pen comes preloaded with the solution, and you can easily change the amount you’re taking by using the dial on it.

In a clinical trial, over 85% of participants achieved significant weight loss. 21lbs was the average amount of weight loss using a combination of Saxend-a, Diet and Exercise. For more clinical trial findings see here - Link

The actions of the skinny pen are best thought of as a "chemical gastric band", albeit without surgery and readily reversible by just stopping the injections. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, depression and low blood sugar symptoms can occur. Rarer are dizziness, allergic reactions, inflammation of the gallbladder and pancreas. It is not suitable for use by pregnant or breastfeeding persons and is not prescribable if there is a history of thyroid cancer.

After your initial consultation, if there are no medical contraindications, the first 5 pens will be prescribed, costing £80 each. These 5 pens last just over 6 weeks on the usual dose escalation scheme or longer with a slow escalation programme. We unfortunately do not offer supply of individual pens.

You will aim to continue to treatment for 12 weeks after reaching your suitable Saxend-a dose. You will be reassessed for a minimum of 5% weight loss. Where this is achieved, treatment can then be continued indefinitely but with regular (bimonthly) medical reviews and weight monitoring.
