What is Baby Botox and what you need to know about it
Baby Botox is simply our usual trusted botulinum toxin (Allergan-branded), used in low and/or less frequent dosing. For example half-dosed, plus/minus only twice a year, rather than 3-4 times a year.
Using low/conservative doses of botulinum has a number of benefits. For the majority of our clients though it is actually NOT the most effective approach. Read on to learn more.
We consider this approach in the following scenarios:
- Young(ish) clients (<30 yrs) – those wishing to begin a Prejuvenation approach. They may wish to use low and infrequent treatments because: A) They can – As lines and wrinkles are not yet well established. B) Not wishing to do too much too soon (keeping back some options for later years).minimum
- Skin Mature Clients (45+ yrs) – Cosmetic toxins may have exaggerated effects in some patients in this age range. Combined with reduction collagen production / skin laxity. Eyelid heaviness is more feared example of this issue. A lower, more restrained dosing at the forehead is used. This keeps move movement in the eyebrows and importantly, help them to maintain natural height.
- The Anxious and Apprehensive – We understand these self-improvements are a big deal for many we see. Sometimes a “slow and steady” approach is just what’s needed. This helps get confidence up and move forward with more advanced and stronger treatments (if wanted/required). Looking Amazing without Looking “Done” is definitely something we buy into, so we’re always ready to go at half pace!
Downsides? Low dosing does unfortunately come with shorter lasting results. Full muscle activity is able to return sooner. Overall there is usually no cost saving. Baby botox therefore has a useful place for a small number of our clients but certainly not the majority.
